Savour a Taste of Home in London

Best Restaurants for International Students in London

When you’re an international student finding your way in a foreign city, one of the things that can instantly bring you comfort is a taste of home. At Chapter student accommodation, you’ll be in the perfect location for exploring London’s exciting culinary scene. Our properties are situated in travel zones 1 and 2, putting you within easy reach of some of the capital’s best restaurants serving international cuisines. Below, we’ve listed some of the must-try places to eat in London where you can savour familiar flavours while you’re away from home.

Authentic International Dining Near Chapter Properties

Chinese

Whether you’re after Sichuan, Shandong, Cantonese, Huaiyang or Northeastern cuisine, you’ll find it in Chinatown. It’s home to some of the best Chinese restaurants in London, such as Real Beijing Food House, Er Mei and New Loon Fung. Additionally, the area has a great selection of Korean, Malaysian and Taiwanese eateries. Located just off Leicester Square, Chinatown is easy to reach from our Central London properties.

Japanese

SUSHISAMBA London offers one of the most coveted rooftop dining experiences in the capital. Considered one of the best Japanese restaurants in London, it serves creative sushi and cocktails against the stunning backdrop of the cityscape. Sanjugo is another popular sushi restaurant with three locations across London, including one in Shoreditch near Chapter Old Street

Italian

For Italian food like nonna makes, check out Eataly on Bishopsgate. This culinary destination has five restaurants and bars, a food hall, a market and a cooking school onsite, making it your one-stop shop for authentically made dishes and high-quality, carefully sourced ingredients. The venue is close to our East London properties, particularly Chapter Spitalfields, which is only a five-minute walk away, and Chapter Aldgate.

French

Looking for a classic French brasserie in London? Brasserie Zedel is a popular spot in Soho loved for its Insta-ready interiors and equally picturesque dishes. Elsewhere, La Palombe and Le Petit Citron, both in West London and easily accessible from Chapter White City, offer a traditional ‘neighbourhood’ bistro’ vibe and menus influenced by the cuisine of South-West France.

Indian

Brick Lane is your go-to for family-run curry houses in East London. It’s been a hub for Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani cuisines since the 1960s and 70s, and several original eateries from the era remain feeding diners today. For more modern fare, book a reservation at Dishoom, where tables are always in high demand. With a menu inspired by 1960s Bombay cafes, this restaurant chain has several locations in London, including eateries near Chapter Kings Cross and Chapter Old Street.

International Supermarkets and Food Shops

Sometimes, only your own family recipes will suffice. On those occasions, you can scour the city’s markets and food shops for all the ingredients you need to cook some comfort food at your London student home.

At Borough Market, you’ll find all sorts of fresh produce and artisan products from around the world. Whether you’re looking for French charcuterie, salsa from Venezuela or Caribbean seasonings, you can find it amongst the 100+ stalls. Best of all, the market is just a short walk from Chapter London Bridge.

The city has a fantastic range of Asian supermarkets where you can stock up on speciality ingredients. Our recommendations include Tian Tian Market near Chapter South Bank and YOHOME Oriental Lifestyle, which is nestled between our Highbury and Highbury II properties.

Furthermore, shops like Whole Foods Market and Waitrose – a UK supermarket chain with locations all over London – have aisles dedicated to international cuisine and the supplies you need to create your favourite home-cooked dishes.

Whichever Chapter accommodation you choose, rest assured that you’ll have access to an incredible choice of restaurants serving up familiar flavours, making London feel a little more like home. Explore our properties to live your best student life at Chapter.
